Back to reality.

After 2 weeks of being gone we are finally back in the Big D and back to reality. I'm not ready to start school but I was so ready to be in our little home...there truly is nothing like sleeping in your own bed! The Christmas break was so relaxing and it was so wonderful to spend it with family! This was my first Christmas without my family (tear) but we got to spend two amaze days with the whole Tijerina clan at my parents house before we took off to Angel Fire, New Mexico on the 24th to meet up with the Rodriguez crew.

I got some goodies that I'm lovin for Christmas! Fave gift: Clarisonic Mia 2. I had been wanting one of these for a while and let me tell you it was worth the wait. Changed.my.life. but seriously so amaze. I also got a bottle of my favorite Flower Bomb which you can never have enough of. And last but not least a monogrammed iPhone case from Marley Lilly...can't wait to get it in the mail! Plus Nicole got engaged on Christmas!!!!!

I hadn't been skiing since 2007, so I had a blast hittin' the slopes with everybody! I truly love skiing but after 3 full days of it I'm so over it and ready for a spa day. ASAP. One of the days we were there, we took a girls day trip to Taos for lunch and a movie...Les Mis was so good and I obvi cried (big shocker)!

The day after we got back from New Mexico we headed to Austin to spend New Years with a seriously legit crew. Dinner was incredible (steak and lobster risotto. Yes.), then after briefly heading to the Lanier's apt to sweep out the bad of 2012 and insure many travels for 2013, we hit sixth street. Oh em gee. The next day my body was definitely feelin closer to 25 than 18 so we didn't leave Austin until like 6:30pm but it was a blast and we couldn't have picked a better group of people to ring in the new year with...if only everyone could have been together!

It's been so nice being home, especially coming home to so many holiday cards in the mail...it's so fun to open them all! I've had so much to do before school starts back up...not to mention everything I own decided to break down at the same time. My laptop decided to die like 5 min before my wills and estates final...thanks TX Wes IT for feeling compassionate and lending me a laptop! Don't know if it was the new guy who didn't know they aren't supposed to lend laptops to students or the tears in my eyes that melted their little hearts but either way it worked out...thank you baby Jesus! Then when we got back to Dallas a few days ago the heater at our house was broken, so we had to start a fire and basically spend the night dressed like we were going skiing again plus sleep with a heat blanket and every other blanket we own on our bed. Sleeping in a house that was 45 degrees inside was not fun. Then this past Friday I got a flat tire on my way to school in Fort Worth to buy books for the semester. And to top it off my iPhone is not working and I'm going to have to get a completely new one if I want the problem fixed. Awesome. But hey, if my family is healthy and I'm happy and the only bad things happening to me are pesky little things like a broken heater and a flat tire then I will take that any day over serious problems. Again, thanks baby Jesus for all the joy in my life...seriously blessed! :)

Today is Día de los Reyes Magos in México aka Three Wise Men Day...you know just another holiday we invented as another excuse to get together and party but nevertheless one of my faves! You eat a rosca with friends and fam and whoever gets the piece with the figurine baked inside gets to (you guessed it) throw a party on February 2nd! It's really just a fun time to get together to eat rosca and tamales, and drink hot chocolate. And just because I live in Dallas away from my fam and Mexi friends doesn't mean im going to let these traditions I grew up with disappear from my life because a. I love them and b. I want my kids and husband to celebrate them as well...I'll be darned if my children's last name is Rodriguez and they don't speak fluent Spanish and don't know all the traditions. Not happening under my roof. So anyways yesterday I ventured to a very sketch part of town to buy a rosca at a bakery and pulled up feeling like I was back at the corner market by my grandparents house in Monterrey...complete with a man making corn in a cup on the street...yum. I was so tempted to buy one to eat but I had just eaten...no worries I'll be back for some corn.
Happy fab 2013! Xoxox
